Step-by-Step Pattern

Materials:

-medium 4 blue, white, brown, and orange yarn
-3.25 mm and 3.75 mm hook (or whichever hook works with your yarn, just as long as the hook used for the overalls is bigger than the other.)
-stuffing
-scissors
-needle
-stitch marker
-black and brown felt
-glue

Abbreviations:

-mr = magic ring
-SC = single crochet
-inc = increase
-dec = decrease
-fo finish off
-ch = chain
-st = stitch
-hdc = half double crochet
-dc double crochet
-sl st = slip stitch

Use 3.25 mm hook until said to change hooks.

Stuff the flipper a bit before continuing.

Note: next round is completely optional. Not doing round 6 gives you more room for sewing.

6. Fold the top of the flipper and sc into both loops on both sides. Continue this 2 more times, closing the flipper completely. (3)

Fo and leave a long tail for sewing. Sew them to round 10 of the body, ending them right where the color change to white begins/ends. Check photos for more detail.

Use 3.75 mm hook for the overalls only.

Overalls:

With brown yarn.

Note: you may need to do less or more rounds for the overalls, as long as it’s leveled with round 13 of the body.

Fo and slip the body into the overalls. It should fit snugly.

Bib:

With brown yarn.

1. Connect your hook in any st of the overalls (as long as it’s facing the front of the penguin body), ch 1, 9 sc, ch 10, sl st into the 10th st away on the overalls from last sc you did. Fo. Connect your hook to the other end of the bib, ch 10, sl st into the 10th st away on the overalls from the first sc you did (the bib)

Overalls front pocket:

With brown yarn.

1. ch 5, starting in 2nd ch from hook, 4 sc down the ch, ch 1 and turn (4)

Fo and leave a long tail for sewing. Keep in mind that the last round of the pocket is the top before sewing. Sew the pocket to round 10 of the overalls down to round 8. Do not sew the top of the pocket down, as doing so doesn’t allow it to pop out.
Use 3.25 mm hook from now on.

Beak:

With orange yarn.

1. ch 3, starting in 2nd ch from hook, 2 SC (2) Sl st into the first st you made then fo. Leave a long tail. Sew or glue it to round 9 of the body, right where the point of the blue yarn ends.
