- Straps can be modified by adjusting the chain length.
Step-by-Step Instructions
The project is broken into 3 main sections: Bra Cups, Bottom Band, and Straps.
1. Bra Cups
- Row 1:
- Start with a slip knot and chain 16.
- Skip the first chain and make single crochets (SC) in every stitch across.
- At the last stitch, make 3 single crochets in the same stitch. Place a stitch marker in the middle of the 3 single crochets.
- Continue by making single crochets along the other side of the chain.
- Row 2:
- Chain 1 and turn your work.
- Make single crochets in each stitch until you reach the stitch marker.
- In the marked stitch, make 3 single crochets. Move the stitch marker to the middle of these three stitches.
- Continue single crocheting until the end of the row.
- Repeat Row 2 until you reach Row 11 (or adjust this based on your cup size).
- Row 11 (Creating Decorative Edge):
- Chain 1 and make single crochets until the stitch marker.
- At the stitch marker:
- Chain 4, skip 1 stitch, and make 2 single crochets (SC).
- Repeat: Chain 4, skip 1 stitch, make 2 SC until the end of the row.
- Repeat Steps 1–4 to create the second bra cup.
- Join the Cups:
- Lay both cups side-by-side and sew them together at the center using the yarn and hook or a tapestry needle.
2. Bottom Band
- Row 1:
- Attach yarn at the bottom of one of the cups. Chain 19, then skip 1 chain, and make single crochets along the chain.
- Continue making single crochets across the base of both cups.
- Once you reach the other end, chain 19 again for the band on the opposite side, skip 1 chain, and make single crochets down this chain.
- Row 2–11:
- Chain 1, turn your work, and make single crochets across all stitches.
- For customization:
- Add or reduce the number of rows in the bottom band depending on how wide you want this section to be.
- Row 12 (Decorative Edge):
- Chain 1. Make single crochets in 2 stitches, chain 4, skip 1 stitch, and repeat: 2 single crochets, chain 4, skip 1 stitch until the end of the row.
3. Straps
- Attach yarn to the top corner of the cup.
- Chain 140 (or adjust the length based on your preference).
- Fasten off and repeat for the second strap.
Finishing Steps
- Sew in all loose ends using a tapestry needle or weave them securely.
- Adjust straps as needed.
- Block the project if desired for a more polished look.
Customization Tips
- You can use different yarn colors to create a color-blocked effect, especially between the cups, bottom band, or straps.
- Add a decorative edge to the straps or cups for extra flair (optional).
- Add beads or tassels to the strap ends for a bohemian touch.
